Today, let’s take a stroll through the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada! — We’ll also stop by Top Golf, a high-tech driving range located on the east side of the property.
Starting on the second floor of the parking structure, we head down an escalator to the rideshare pickup area before stepping inside to a shopping area called The Underground. We pass storefronts that have been here for years, like Häagen-Dazs, where you can grab a cone or ice cream sundae, Fat Tuesday — a boozy frozen daiquiri spot, and New York Pretzel, that serves fresh-made doughy goodness.
Heading up another escalator, we arrive at the hotel lobby, where a large golden lion stands on a platform made to resemble a basketball court. Taking a right past the lobby, we head to the hotel rooms tower to check out a water fountain then it’s on to The District, but not before we pass a soon-to-be-live online gaming broadcast area and the Loser’s Bar, where live music is playing.
In The District, we pass Emeril’s Seafood and venture into the food court, where a fast-food-style chicken sandwich incredibly costs $18.99. If you’d prefer a burger, Johnny Rockets is open 24 hours a day and you can get a single cheeseburger and fries for the insanely high price of $21.95. Yet somehow, people are still standing in line waiting to order.
Beyond the food court, we encounter a sign for Top Golf and decide to check it out. Once we get outside, the vibe shifts completely — it’s quiet, with a cool breeze, as we walk along the dimly lit path next to the pool area.
Across the parking lot, we reach the Top Golf entrance, where a private corporate event is happening. Regular guests are still enjoying rounds of golf and dining as well.
Walking back to the main MGM building and heading inside, we make our way toward the Las Vegas Strip side, passing rows of slot machines and table games. A new pop-up restaurant, Netflix Bites, invites fans of shows like Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Squid Game to partake in themed dining options.
With a nod to the buffet, the pedestrian walkway to New York-New York, and the Centrifuge Bar, we circle back toward the table games where we reminisce about the actual lions that were once on display in the area now occupied by a sports bar.
