Today we’re walking from the Venetian (technically the Palazzo, but everyone refers to them collectively as “the Venetian”) over to the Sphere in Las Vegas. Signs inside the casino said Sphere access was via the Sands Avenue sidewalk, so we start outside on the steps of the Palazzo to head over for a closer look at the massive new LED-lit entertainment venue.
The walk itself is relatively quiet except for a homeless man who swears into the air but quickly shifts tone and says, “How you doing, sir?” when he notices me.
As we walk, we get a unique view of the Sphere’s exterior, which is covered in over 1.2 million LED “pucks” that each contain 48 LED lights. Those all combine to form a giant wraparound display. At 366 feet tall and 516 feet wide, it’s the largest spherical structure in the world, and it can be seen from miles away at night. The scale of the venue is impressive, and as we approach it on foot, we get close enough to see the individual LEDs within those “pucks”.
If you’re curious what it looks like to walk from the Strip to the Sphere or just want a relaxed, first person view of Las Vegas on a warm summer night, this video gives you a real time look… and we also take a peek at the Wizard of Oz “witch under the Sphere” display outside as well.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate you being here!
