Normally, I live in Las Vegas and film walkthroughs of casinos and such, but on a recent trip to California, I decided it’d be fun to film a walk through the picturesque Balboa Park in San Diego.
First, we begin with a peaceful moment watching squirrels play near the grassy area by Sixth Avenue, then we make our way into the heart of the park. On the Cabrillo Bridge, we walk high above the cars traveling the 163 freeway and soon reach the Museum of Us, just in time to hear the Westminster chimes ring out at noon.
Continuing on, we pass by the Old Globe Theatre and take a glance at the California Tower. We walk along the long, shaded walkways near the Alcazar Garden, then we head toward the Palm Canyon Trail, passing a massive Moreton Bay fig tree with roots stretching across the ground. The nature trail is lush and green, with winding dirt paths. At the end of the trail, we find ourselves at the Kate O. Sessions Cactus Garden.
We then stroll through the House of Pacific Relations International Cottages, where a sacred fig tree with heart shaped leaves stands nearby. Continuing on, we eventually reach the Spreckels Organ Pavilion then pass the Japanese Friendship Garden and the elegant Spanish-style courtyard near the Prado Restaurant.
We wrap up our walk by strolling down the main walkway (El Prado) toward the Bea Evenson Fountain, soaking in the classic architecture and relaxing vibe of one of San Diego’s most iconic spots.
