Today we’re taking a stroll through Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, an off-strip Las Vegas casino with a country western vibe and one very unexpected feature inside — a quaint forest.
We start our walk in Mystic Falls Park, a large, tree-filled indoor atrium with animatronic animals, waterfalls, and streams running through it. It’s themed like the outdoors but fully inside and air-conditioned. We even spot a few quirky animatronics like a beaver making its dam and a squirrel twisting its head.
Along the way in the atrium area, we pass Smokey Joe’s Cafe, cross a little bridge by the waterfall area, and take a peek at the buffet area. It’s currently closed, but it hasn’t been demolished… yet. With a bit of planning, we’re right on time to catch the Mystic Falls laser and water show, which happens a few times each day.
After that, we pass through a small food court with spots like McDonald’s, Roberto’s Mexican restaurant, and Panda Express, then we head onto the casino floor.
Beyond the slots and table games, Sam’s Town has more going on : we pass a movie theater, a small arcade with video games, and other fast food spots like Subway, Dunkin Donuts, and a Mexican snacks place called Crazy Corn. On the other side of the casino floor, we pass the now closed former location of T.G.I.Friday’s, then we take a quick look at Roxy’s Bar and stage where live music sometimes seemingly happens.
The escalators going to the bowling alley are closed, so we take an elevator to the floor below. Vegas bowling alleys are big. This one has 56 lanes, a pro shop, a snack bar, and a small bar area.
We also wander through a mostly empty second floor hallway before heading back down to check out the sports deli and sports book, then we finish up with a quick peek into the bingo hall.
